Popping more than usual

Hello all. My '04 Ridgeback has started to pop in the exhaust pipe more than usual on deceleration and has even started to pop occasionally during steady driving RPM. I checked the plugs and they are good, clean but maybe a little white. I did just notice what I believe is the culprit. Vacuum leaks. Took this pic of top of shorty carb. My mechanic is closed until Tuesday so help is appreciated. Thanks. I believe that I need to replace the cracked cap and possibly add one to the open one? The open one definitely sucks air while running.

Replace the capped one.... the uncapped one goes to the front head.... you have lost the line that goes from there to the front head!575010_10150645618466722_334451925_n.jpg

I actually had some caps in with my extra '78 Fiat parts. I had capped them both and gone on a short ride around town and it seemed fine now. But now I see the post where it says that the uncapped one goes to the cylinder head. I'll have to see if my head has an unused nipple or a hose hanging incorrectly.

The vac nipple is for say an advance curve like using a VOES switch with the harley ignition system. Going to a head is for what? Other than a vac assist to close off a compression release unit, but those are electric, right?

So my guess is used for advance curves if the switch is involved.
