Poll of people that have WP Installed, how is it performing

Installed last March with the support of a member on the forum. As far as performance, it's been flawless,. My bike is an efi model and there where issues with the idiot lights at first but Don at wire plus got me fised up with the right resistors. Would I do it again, in a heart beat. I learned more about my bike while installing the wire plus than you could ever reading a manual, and I am not a mechanic.The switch install goes easy if you have access to a metal lathe but could be managed without.

Just installed mine. Kill switch did not function, marker lights did not function. Key switch housing large for coil and cover. Shimmed coil mounts and milled inner cover to fit. Checked electrical issues with WP and had to return units for testing. Bike is down waiting on WP to send good units. Not happy in Ohio, but confident WP will make it right.

My bike did the same thing havent been able to contact wire plus on this issue was wonder how you go about resetting this wireplus ehc unit ??? Any help is much appreciated

I put mine I think about two years ago and had "0" problems until last week. I rolled it out of the garage and started it.It ran a few minutes then shut off like dead to the world. I thought maybe one of the battery cables was coming lose. I losened them and snugged them back down, turned the switch on and had power again. I started it but it started a little weird sounding. Almost instantly I smelled smoke like wires burning ,, shut it off and removed the right side cover. The switch module was smoking out the side of it. Wire plus wanted me to send both modules back to them and they should get them tommorrow. We will see! Hopefully it is just that one module. The battery was up and charged. I installed it too even though I had to ask what it was. Memory is lacking when I am not getting a lot of sleep. I will let you know what they find.

I just received my WP and will install it this week. I have an '04 Bulldog. I will let you guys know how it went.

I installed the WP on my '04 Chopper about 2 years ago. No problems, and now I don't feel anxious about riding far from home.

Ijust did mine on 04 bulldog and it is not working. The tech at WP is asking me to send the power supply back after determining that voltage to the ignition module(thunderheart above the old EHC) was dropping from 12.9 volts to 10 when the starter was engaged. The red light on the ignition is not coming on at all even just a flicker on start up. Some say that disconnecting it with the ignition on and putting it back on should make the light go on for at least 2 seconds, mine doesn't. I am reluctant to send it back because I think a 2 volts drop from enging the starter should be normal. I think it is the ignition module but no way of testing it yet. still looking at all the threads.

The WP kit was not so grand on my bike. I installed it myself. I was an aircraft avionics craftsman by trade, so I have experience with wiring.I installed mine in Fall of 2011 and my bike has never been right since. The bike cuts off from time to time. In early 2012 I met some friends for dinner. The bike cut off on me 3 times on the way to eat. Then on the way home, the bike died then the WP kit caught on fire. I took it to a shop here in SLC, UT. They had my bike for 4 months. Several times saying the bike was good to go, only for me to ride it and die. Several months were spent waiting for WP to send a new module. Since I have got the bike back, it has died on me about half a dozen times, now I believe my charging system or Battery is jacked up. Can ride for about 20-25 miles, then once you cut the bike off, the starter barely turns over and sounds like hell. I ordered a new VR from BDM, but the one I received is different than the one in my 2005 Ridgeback. I also ordered a Braille battery. One day oh one day I want to be back to riding with confidence and shut all the Harley F*&^%s up at work. There mouths and their bikes are all alike.

I voted "no issues"...but...a couple thoughts.

The WP unit itself seems well made and simple enough. Functions all work and it gets the job done. One thing it does not have - and I see no mention in the install guide - is protection for any of it's solid state components. My VR went about 2 weeks after the WP install and fried the ignition and headlight relays. Ignition stuck off; headlight stuck on high. Ignition is easy to get around but not having high/low is a bit of an issue. For now I'm going to use a simple latching relay circuit to handle the headlight so not too bad.

Part of this winters work is to get either a fuse or breaker box wedged in there and get all the circuits protected. I'm not going to test my theory, but I'm guessing a dead short on any of the controlled circuits (lights, horn, blinkers, etc...) would toast the related relay. In fact it SHOULD toast the relay...if fuses aren't used.

Hey Thor! Where is the ignition relay located? I think my ignition module is bad but I didn't know about the ignition relay.

Hey there Trick! The "ignition relay" I was referring to is the latched circuit controlled by the Run/Stop button on the right hand controls. I called it a relay, and it is, but more so it's a latched circuit controling power to the ignition wire on the module. It can't be fixed as its inside the block and comprised of solid state components.

Had my WP installed by a friend who knows how to keep the smoke inside those plastic covers.
Not one single issue at all, everything works as it should, but i do not have hazard lights.
I would not use them if i DID have them..............so no biggy.

Wiring is still a bunch of spagetti under the cover, never got around to cleaning it up, too busy riding besides, IF IT AINT F*#KED DON'T FIX IT.

I too ride with confidence now, although my EHC is/was working as it should prior to WP install.
