Hey guys,
I've been using Mother's Billet polish. It aint cheap, but it will take seriously surface scratched billet, and make it look like chrome. Simply rub it on, wait a minute, and rub it off. I use it on all my billet stuff, and it's readily available at O'Reillys. I had some deep surface scratches on my struts from a bad-placed bungy cord I used to hold the seat on in transit and it took it all the way out. My hand controls look awesome.

Just a hint, ya don't want to use billet cleaner on chrome, or chrome cleaner on billet. Just doesn't do right.

Thanks Linx, I'm with ya on the Mothers. Its all I have used for a long time bubt I always have my ear to the ground for somehitng better. I Googled this "Florida Sunshine Polish" but I can't find any info on it. I was hoping he would respond with some info but I guess not.

Also FYI...
A professional detailing vendor at AZ Bike Week told me to steer clear of using micro-fiber towels on polished billet aluminum because "they'll leave fine, hairline scratches as they're made from synthetic material" (he called them "melted down plastic"). He said to look at the content and buy only 100% pure cotton cloths or baby diapers to use on polished billet aluminum.
He said "you'll see a big difference". So next time I'm at 'Wally-world', I'm picking up some cotton and will give it a whirl (to avoid the 'swirl'..).

Between-the-fins cleaning...aint sure what they call them, but I use what is essentially nothing but a tongue-depresser sheathed with a canvas material. 3M makes them. They're called something like a "Rigid Cleaning Tool." Get them from my dealer (Gateway Big Dog), and they're cheap. About .50 cents apiece. Do a pretty good job. My aluminum polishes are Mother's and Wizard's. The Mother's I use for detailing and the Wizard's I use for a quicker cut. Both do an awesome job!

Dozer1 - do you have a 3M part number for this item? I searched the 3M website high & low and couldn't come up with anything.
My dealer doesn't carry anything like this, and I don't get down to St. Louis in my travels.
Thanks!

ZEPHYR PRO-40 METAL POLISH. You can google it it's all over the place. I've used it for years on my Kenworths. I have a 2004 W900 Studio with a shit load of polished alum. I don't use anything that don't go on easy and come off easy. I've learned the hard way. You can find it online or at some KW dealers. 4statetrucks.com in Joplin has it also and will ship too 888-875-7787. I just looked at their catalog they have 32oz bottles for $19.50.

Thanks Paul...I'll give it a shot! I'm always looking for a better (easy on/easy off) billet aluminum polish.
Mother's Billet Polish does a great job, especially when there are swirls, brush marks or scrapes you want to polish out.
BUT...it's labor intensive to clean up after.

Thanks for the tip on this product (I'd never heard of it before)!
Ride safe..and ENJOY!!!

You guys are all throwing out names of polish that make the aluminum shine but what product takes out the fine scratches? I got fine scratches on my triple trees that I can't seem to get out with Wizards, Mothers, Never Dull and some other shit I got. Nothing seems to want to make them disappear. I got the chrome package on my K-9. I wish the trees were chromed too because when the light hits them right it looks like someone ran sand paper over them. Pisses me off.

Mother's Billet Aluminum Polish with 100% cotton cloths (NOT micro-fiber). Just keep working it in circular motions, then flip the cloth over to take it off.
IF that doesn't do it, get a Mother's Polishing Ball (available at Wal-Mart, etc), put it in a cordless drill and carefully buff those areas...still using the Mother's Billet (paste) polish to begin with, then back off to a Wizard's, etc (liquid) aluminum polish.

I'll be real surprised if they're not gone or minimized where most can't be seen after all that.
