plug or patch (mushroom type) rear tire?

If your plugs are blowing out your either not doing it right or the hole was to big to begin with. As far as your life being worth $300.oo Around here you can have somebody killed for less than $50.oo :D Your best option is always a new tire, don't matter if its a motorcycle or truck. But I have rode on a plugged tire many times. :zz2cents:

Exactly... I have a plug in my SS right now. Do over 120mph all the time with it. Take clover leafs at over 70mph.

I carry a plug kit in my tourpack.

Sometimes if its a big hole insert 2 plugs at one time. Also regardless what they say for the plugs... after you insert it, twist it before pulling out the tool.

I got a sharp stone hole in my tire that only had 650 miles on it. I put in one of those rope plugs that you apply glue to and insert. After rope passes through the tire wall it expands and there is no way in hell that it will pull out at any speed. I have done this for years on my cars and trucks and never have had a problem. I check the pressure once a month and I am good to go.

This is one of those deals where one guy gets away with murder and a analytical guy like me gets run over by a semi. I've learned to do things 100% right because nothing else ever works out for me.

I'm quite shocked that the dealer even plugged the tire in the first place. It's very displeasing to hear that they sent you on your way with that much air in it. I'm on my 4th rear tire within an eight month time span. No-one around my area will plug or patch these tires. Currently have an investigation going on with the Cooper corp (Produces Avon tires) with my tires having a gash going across the width of each tire I've had changed. Not sure if I've been getting a bad batch or what.

Where are you getting your tires from?

The Harley dealer here has a machine that changes the 300 without touching the rim. I have used them a number of times...:2thumbs:
