Long story short...recently replace oem ECH on 05 BD chopper...w/ a rip kit....ran fine..now key on,full battery,all lights,tach,etc..working,...press start button...nothing..
Ignition module has power.,starter is also brand-new...my guess would be the start button...the handle bar controls are very expensive maybe...any advise or help is appreciated..thank you

Should of went with Axle's EHC. Alot less work to install. I had the RIP kit installed on my 06 Mastiff. Couln't get it to work for anything. I ordered a power harness from Donna, a new EHC from Curtis...and WHAM back on the road again. ......Until a lady rear ended me and totaled the bike.

Can you feel the button click when you press it? If not,Could be worn out.
Does the right blinker work? Try and if not then your connector on the right control may have come loose, also check the connectors under the tank

Remove the brain and everything connected to it. Bypass the on/off switch and use a marine grade ignition switch (acts like a cars switch). Rewire the bike old school like I did. No issues since. Only thing is you need to have an electronic ignition installed. Not cheap, but resolves all the electrical problems...ever.

Check your pcb board and look for loose wires or pins, I would also check the wire that connects to the starter. One is it connected securely and two are you getting any power to it.

If it does end up being your pcb board, pm Shannon, aka “Mr. Wright”. He may be able to help you out, the guy does and knows a bit of everything on these dogs.

Not trying to be a dick but with some very good options out there now for big dog replacing the ehc (axel and docs) not sure why anyone would consider old school wiring it for the cost and benefit ?

Depends on owner preferences. I've wired and troubleshot many bikes so I'd rather have my system as simple and with as few proprietary parts as possible. I resent having more than three thermal circuit breakers and an electronic ignition or needing oddball components I'll have to wait for if one fries. I even remove TSSMs from my personal Harleys when they malfunction and replace their flasher function with two cheap solid state flashers.

Rewiring is cheap if you do it yourself while any tools you buy (crimpers, pin tools, heat gun, etc) can serve you for a lifetime. If you have to pay a pro it can get expensive quickly!

As for grounds and starter power cables, it's a very good idea to check them by disconnection and cleaning then coat the interface with dielectric grease (any auto store has it) to exclude moisture. Old battery cables can corrode internally raising resistance and corrode inside their terminal lugs. I make mine using light gauge welding cable from my local welding supply. They cut to length so no need to buy a roll and you get superior ampacity, flexibility (many fine strands) and highly heat resistant insulation. I buy copper lugs online. (The nominal motorcycle battery lug bolt hole diameter is 1/4".) While I'm at it I pull the starter solenoid end cover to inspect the contacts. Starter contacts are dirt cheap and easy to replace but big inch engines draw many amps so burned contacts are common.

Good to know Mr Wright does board repair! I get a Big Dog customer at my bros shop now and then and will keep that in mind.

This is exactly what I want to do.
Issue I'm worried about running into is the automatic compression release setup.
Am I going to have to delete that out completely and just go to the manual compression release?
