Good Morning Everyone.
I have talked to Tim and Wade about this privately so now I'm putting this out here for everyone.
Many of you know me and Rick from when we ran the show trucks for Big Dog. Fortunately we both landed feet first after the collapse of BD and work for a fantastic company.
Rick and his beautiful wife Kim have dealt with more than any parent ever should in the past 3 1/2 years because on the night of December 7th/8th 2011 their 25 year old son was in the hospital for a fairly routine procedure and never came home.
Since that time his lovely wife Kim has been battling cancer for the second time around. At this time it's looking like cancer is going to win the battle. I was talking to their daughter on Monday and her mother is down to 82# and no longer has the strength to even sit up on her own. Kim's only wish was to see her grandson born which she did get to do and she has gotten to hold him. I believe she is at peace with the world and nearing the time of being called home to be with her son Greg.
A little personal here for me, Rick is a true salt-of-the-earth human being and will never admit when he needs help even when asked. When I came to Big Dog I was a smart ass, hot headed kid and I wouldn't be 1/2 the man I am today or where I am today if it weren't for Rick. Rick will never ask for anyone's help so I'm asking for it.
Rick and I both work for the same company and for the past 2 months they have paid his salary for him to be at home with Kim. However that's merely a drop in the bucket compared to the day to day expenses of battling this horrible disease.
Their daughter Melissa has set up a Go-Fund-Me and with the blessing and encouragement from Tim and Wade I'm passing along this information and from me I'm asking that if you can, no matter how small please help this family so that during this horrible time in their lives they won't as much of the financial stresses to worry about. I want to see Rick, their daughter Melissa and their only grandchild be by this beautiful woman's side during this horrible time.
So please, if you can, no matter how small visit Melissa's Go-Fund-Me page and help someone who helped so many of us for so many years. Melissa has set a pretty modest goal of $2500, I am doing anything and everything I can to see that goal met and surpassed exponentially. Rick has been my brother, father and best friend for many years. He has touched many peoples lives, sacrificed so much over the years to be on the road showing these bikes and personally I know I owe him more than words can describe.
