Please Help Replacment ehc

Energy One
Just trying to get my new(at least to me)03 mastiff bug free. Got my new dakota digital speedo working(installed new speed sensor). Now I notice the signal lights and the brake lights do not work. I didn't notice but I am assuming they didn't work before I bought it. Saw some posts where there were some voltage checks but I cant get to the terminals on the plugs unless I unplug them from the ehc. Anyway I am assuming the problem lies in the ehc. I can't find it now but I saw somewhere on here where the Wp devices only last a year and a half or so and they recommended another replacement which only cost $260 or so. Also do these replacements eliminate the ignition module and the little black device that sits on top of the battery. I am concerned that if these devices fail that it will be hard to locate replacements. Any help will be appreciated.

Do you have a Service Manual?
If not PM me your email and I will send you one.

Don't be so quick to blame the EHC. You need to go through your wiring first and make sure you don't have any issues. I have a couple of customers I am trying to help on the phone that junked the EHC, replaced it with an aftermarket system and still have the problems they had before.

I have put three different WP systems on 03 Choppers over the last 4 years and none of them have failed yet so I am not sure where the threads are coming from about the WP for 03 and older bikes. I know Andrew said "every" WP381 that has come into his shop has failed but I don't know exactly what "every" means. WP has had its issues though.

The replacements do not get rid of the ignition module but that is not a rare item and can be found both in OEM and purchased from Thunderheart.

The WP does get rid of the starter module on top of the battery but I am unfamiliar with the Thunderheart system. However, the starter module is a BD proprietary item so it is likely that it does. Andrew would likely know best in regards to the Thunderheart module.

ecm tests I have done

I did test the violet wire going to the signal but no voltage. I thought maby a ground issue but I could not get to the plug connectors with them plugged to the ehc. With the plugs unplugged I only had a ground on one black wire on the plugs. I thought the ehc on demand would maby ground the device to be turned on. UIs that the way it works? Yes I do have a manual.

Lots of things to consider here. Use search, educate yourself and shoot some more questions. Good luck

Have ALL the signal lights stopped working?
i have a 02 mastiff and found that the wiring for the rear light and signal lights had been run between the frame and rear swing arm and was getting squashed and some of the wires had gone O/C. I took the rear tyre off, cut the wiring and re-run and extended it.

I wish I had more money.
Check under the rear fender for chaffed wires. If you need a stock 03 mastiff ignition module let me know.
