I have an 06 K9 and after I ride for a few minutes and my dog dies. It acts like it has no juice or a bad battery. Not the case. Bought a new battery, same thing happens in a matter of minutes, had the battery tested under a load and it is strong. I thought it might be a ground issue but it only seems to happen when this thing gets hot. It has been 95+ for the last few weeks here in KC. Just before it shuts down, the headlight flips to bright, the horn honks. Doesnt make sense because the battery has plenty of juice and yes I had it load tested. Ive been reading and it seems go along with the cam sensor going bad. My question is would a cam sensor going bad cause the electrical problems, right turn signal blinking, then both signals blinking, sometimes the headlight stays on high. If it was the ECH, I dont understand why it runs fine when its first started. I have had so many problems with a bike that Ive had for 3 weeks and it had 1200 miles. It rode great for 500 miles and now so many troubles. Help

Also if there is a chance it is the Cam Sensor, could one of you tell me which one to buy and if anyone has any installation pointers for an 06 k9, I will appreciate all help. I just want to ride

Cam sensor is a 15 min slam bam install and a 50ish dollar part. If the bike is dieing when it warms up them its most likely that cause. Easy changeout and if not then you know and you can move on.

I tested mine with the wifes hair drier and bingo quick fix and no more :bang:

PS the cam sensor shouldnt cause the weird light issue but the electrical gremlins run wild sometimes

Reading more on the forum after I posted this cam sensor question, It appears that there is not a cam sensor on the 06's

Moisture / Water in the speedo housing? Gave the dog a bath recently?
no on the bath. this bike hasnt seen water. I did however pull ehc plugs and fill with dielectric grease to be on the safe side

i had unknown problem with my k9, it ended up be a wiring harness had rubbed through on frame. it had a lot of weird problems and when i got that loom fixed it is all on line. i thought it was haunted.

Pull your tank and check all your wiring and connections. BD has a template that all the wiring under the tank must be squeezed in to and in held in place by zip ties. If a shop has worked on your ride be leary of any work they do I don't care how much people rave about them. BDs use a low voltage computer to run the electrical system. Any interference with that and you will be haunted by Gremlins. In addition the flashing lights and honking horn are the indicator for a low vlotage/amperage situation. It doesn't matter if someone has load tested the battery. If the battery cannot sustain the proper amperage during starting then the ECH will try notify you of this by that signal and the bike will not start.
What brand, model of battery do you have now? How old is the current battery? When was the last time you changed the battery?
