rode my 02 pitbull 30 miles and it shuts down, after a tow home I do some troubleshooting, getting gas in carb, after checking for spark to plugs I put a shot of starting fluid in cylinder, and it fires up and runs like a champ, now im afraid to ride waiting for this to happen again.......Any ideas ?

Were you a little low on fuel? It may have been just a fluke and a piece of gunk got in and clogged the carb...and you fiddlin' with it, came out.....or spraying the starter fluid in it, cleaned it out....other than that, if it's running fine now, I'd say take the can of starter fluid with you and go riding.....:2thumbs:

could be the tank liner is coming off and blocking flow through the petcock. make sure the fuel line isn't too close to the head, causing vapor lock. might need to replace the inline filter if your bike has one, might just be a maintenance thing.

Tank vent in cap strikes again maybe? If it happens again loosen your fuel caps and see if it runs...

For the future. I like having the AAA PLUS motorcycle. Gives you 4 ~ 100 mile tows per year. Piece of mind, for around $110.00 per year. Covers YOU, no matter who's bike you are riding.

I agree riding it to see if it's ok it's hard to diagnose a problem that doesn't exist do some rides before planning a ride with friends
