Pitbull starter

Hallo

I have à Pitbull 2002 with a bad starter.
It works ok if i dont touch the choke or the gashandel

It sounds terrible and smells like an owerheated electricaldrill.

Is it possible to mend it ?
or would à new starter be the Only right thing to do.

Any tipps for starters or parts would be great.
