Don't Look at my Member!
I'm on a fishing forum and we fish large Gulf coast waters. Boaters can get into trouble and need asistance many times for a lot of reasons. We have a phone number list over there and after Reading Raywoods and Kapt.s thread about breaking down i'm wondwering if its needed over here. It may need to be private to members or even supporting members , just a helpful thought. The mods might want to think about it.
However I'm not scared and i'll start here. I'm in the Houston Texas area and have lived in Texas most of my life so i know folks all over the state. My cell number is 281-808-0777 and if any of my Big Dog Biker brothers get in a bind feel free to call and ask for help.

It's not a bad idea Throttle. I think we have talked about this at one time and it must've fell through the cracks. I'm all for helping and sharing my info. if that's what yall want to do.

Let's see where this goes with the rest of the members.

Going to be making a run from Savannah, Ga. to Lexington, Ky. ( 600 miles each way ) in the next week or 2 and was thinking this morning what a good idea a list of this type would be. I'm all for it.

I've always thought this was a good idea. I know some people are leary about putting personal information on the web. Once out there, its there forever. I have a idea on how this could work. First, have a new catagory such as TRIPS. When you get ready to go on a ride start a thread stating where your going and a rough outlne of your route. You wouldn't have to be exact or give any dates. Second, the people close to your route would PM you with there contact information. This way no information is out in the public for viewing and no one will call you later and try to sell you a condo are a vaccum cleaner. Third, keep the thread to the point and don't hijack the thread with clutter. This way only the person going on the trip will know the phone numbers. This is just a thought and open for any other suggestons. I would really like to see if we could get this together. I ride a lot in Texas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma and it would be nice to know if I had a problem, help could be close at hand. A person who lives in the area would know were to get some help if needed. Not everyone has time to take long trips but you could meet up and ride together for a little while or stop and have lunch. Just a thougt. Any other opinons?

Also when you get ready for a ride, it wouldn't have to be a 5000 mile ride to post a TRIP. It could be just a couple hundred miles or shorter. Just get online post a TRIP and the contact info comes to you.

Ray and I touched on this at Sturgis and it's something I was thinking about recently. Ray's troubles highlight the need and desire for this, which is something I'm working on. My main concern is privacy issues right now and how to keep everyone's information secure and still available.

I'll start a thread on this so we can all have an open discussion and share ideas.

BMW has a similar program for it's motorcycle riders, I think it's a great idea and something we'll develop due to the positive reaction from you guys.

I think this is a good plan and a start. My only issue is for those who don't really announce their trips or take one spur of the moment and run into trouble.

Thanks a lot Tim and Mickeetwo. I think it will add a sence of security,and brotherhood if made to work. I can tell there a lot of solid members on this site.
