Not sure if this is in the right area -

I removed mine from the tank and was wondering if anyone here ever did it?

What's used to seal the threads when reinstalling into the tank? Is there a certain kind of sealing paste?

Oscar..I pull my valve every 2500 or so and use regular plumbing sealant (pipe dope) on the threads. Never any problem. I think teflon tape (like Lee uses) will likely be fine too.

Some folks I've heard say "don't use pipe dope - the fuel will eat it." When I ask them about it, it turns out they've never done any wrenching themselves and are just dealer service queens.

Thank you gents! I'll give it a whirl.

It did have some pastey like shit on the threads still.

I noticed that the one I took off of the bike is a pingle. Are they all the same? It's what I was going to replace it with, now I'm thinking why bother.

Oscar, you can use the liquid teflon. That's what I use on the drain plugs and most of the things around the bike.

Damn Chris, I thought you had this in one of your "How-To" threads but I couldn't find it. I do know that it was discussed on here somewhere. Thanks.

Pipe dope! If you use to much tape when you screw back in you can get pieces of tape that grinds between the treads, loose in the tank.
