Pegs

Just wanted to show what could be done with our stock pegs. I removed the rubber, counter bored the rubber extrusion holes, and made some pointed tips.

Ratman, I do have access to a machine shop. Wanted to show people that when the rubber starts to fall off as mine did, you don't have to spend $500 or more for new pegs. Of coarse I have have access to a machine shop, but even using a simple drill press and the stock end caps could be something anyone could do.
Seemed to me to be such a waste of material to trash the pegs due to the rubber wearing out.

Love it! Thanks for the idea, I have a set just laying around because the rubber wore off. I may have to make my own rendition of those.

Thanks nine lives

Got mine off right now, was looking at the same idea, too nice of a piece of auminum to waste. 30 years in tool N die, fiishing quite a few mods right now. Axle covers / light brackets, new homemade exhaust system, fender add-on, S&S dual intake with spikes, and Mick is checking out the Thundermax for my 07 EFI bulldog. Will get pics on in about a month.

Nine Lives,

Thanks for input. Now that I know what actual peg looks like, Im more comfortable to tear them apart. The rubber is fine on mine (40,000 miles), Im just tired of my hands cramping from getting in the corners with a toothbrush. Ill try the Dremel like another guy recommended. Maybe that'll work on the holes in the pegs also.
Thanks again. See yall at Biktoberfest.

 What a great idea. When my rubber falls off, this is what I will do until I can afford a complete set of custom pegs.:2thumbs:

Were they chromed?

The reason I ask, is because I have a chrome set of peg clevises that need shortened.
I took them to my local custom bike shop and he said he wouldn't do it because the chrome would chip/flake off.
