Good thing about the kit is you can mount the HCI in front of the battery box if you need to.'
Thanks Ray; yeah I gotcha, I'm trying to figure out best alternate wire routing plan ya know...It won't beat me...but ya know, stick it right here specifically on this Air Compressor mounting flange is well ---

PurpleDog,

I take it you are in the mist of doing one now. If correct, did you get the master harness up the backbone yet and if so-how did that go?

I can see your delima with the HCI mount. I do recall mine was stuck to the bottom of the bat tray, so if you need to relocate somewhere else, maybe a problem if there is not enough wire from the HCI.

Let us know how you make out, but am interested in how the harness up the backbone went or goes. That for me was the biggest PITA so any tips are always appreciated.

Good luck and safe riding.

I'm glad your happy with the pdm kit raywood. I'm planning on getting one sometime soon I think personally it's the best way to go for me I just don't feel right about cutting and splicing wires and I don't care about the self canceling signals it's a chopper I'm surprised it that in the first place.:job:

This is by far one of the best technical posts to date for quite some time since GASMAN was posting his HOW TOs on a weekly basis...Fibersnake ,as usual very thourough and educational in your description, and all around deliverance of information...
Ray looking forward to the progress and opinions of what you have to say about this product as well..........I am not one for choppin up my wiring harness if I dont have to ,so I am glad this option is also out there....however we never seem to have had a very intense review like the one done by Fibersnake......thanks guys..

I think Ray will be giving us an update in the next day or two. Hopefully he is good and has no issues. I think with the miles he does and the amount of care he puts into keeping the BD going, he will soon be able to give even more info, good or bad. Hopefully between all, it does hold up and is not a POS, be can imagine Ray with his mileage and riding will find out for sure in short period time.

fiber have you given any more thought to getting the wires up the backbone...anything you would do different? did you tape plug end connectors down or just let them hang?

Hey now; where's my micro-switch...:bang:

I don't suppose they mentioned that their hand control interface module is designed to be mounted smack dab where your Air Compressor is mounted?

:bang::bang:
Purple dog .... I'm most interested in your installation with the air ride system as I have the same set up ... I spoke with Bob Lockwood at BDM and he informed me that I need to install a toggle switch and BDM has the toggle switch bracket included with the PDM...

PN: 173-000109-00 for $651.60

Keep me posted on your install.

Thanks

Update on my POS...shop says it is the ignition. Going to put a Crane in ( I know, plastic and will melt) and hope that is all it is. Dyna is an option also.

Will still do the PDM when the time comes.

I'm just a bit disappointed about not having the self canceling turn signals so I hope some electrical expert can explain why. They (wp and the BDPP) look like good units but would be nice to maintain air ride control and the SC turn signals.

BTW, Nice write up Fiber.
When I do use the signals, I just shut them off on my own, same as my older Scoots, Willys and Tractors. Guess I am too old to think about the hound having self cancelling signals.:D

Fibersnake, excellent comparison:2thumbs:

ive found that the self canceling on the signals is not on long enough in most cases and i have to hit the turn signal 2 maybe 3 times...i think im gonna like it better without that option...my 02.
