I'm a newbie here and decided to install some passenger pegs on my '06 Mastiff. I bought the Banded pegs off the BDM site part #163-000034-01 also bought the clevis kit as well. I installed them but the pegs are extremely lose in the clevis. I thought for sure there should be some friction so that the pegs would stay up during riding with no passenger but thats not the case for me. I synched them down nice and tight and there are two washers on either side of the peg inside the clevis. Just wondering what I did wrong or if I did anything wrong at all and thats how they are supposed to be (doubt it). Maybe I bought the wrong pegs...I figured the rear passenger pegs are interchangeable with the mains. Anyways if anyone has any insight on this please help. Thanks

cscan, there should be two nylon/plastic washer that go one on each side of the peg and then slide into the clevis. They should tighten up with the bolt and not be loose. Are the washers thick enough?

I'm using the washers that came with the BDM clevis kit specifically made for the my year mastiff. The washers are definitely on and in the right place. I may have to go the local hardware store and see if I can find thicker washers. Just doesn't seem right that the official BDM clevis kit and pegs would not fit as they should....but I guess it happens.

Yep there in there, they just give slight resistance and that is about it. With the way the dog shakes they never stays up! no biggy. :)

does anyone else have any issues with these pegs or do most have a tight set that dont fall down when just standing still with the bike off?

I had the same problem, the plastic washer was not enough. They were still lose. I took a flat washer and ground it down thin to fit and took the slop out of mine.

Yeah I will just rig mine up somehow. Probably get new plastic washers or do what T did. Thanks!

We just put some on a friends bike this weekend same problem. The machining is off and we had to make a flat washer shim to put under the nylon washer.

I dont know if this would work but i'll toss it out there. On some of the older HD pegs they had a thin small square wassher like thing in between the pegs and clevis. It was bent almost like a half moon and it kept pressure on the peg when in the up position. Maybe you could purchase some at your local HD dealership.
