Paranoia...Orange gas in float bowl...

So... I drained the tank and removed it in order to change my speedo and headlight shell. When I drained the gas I used a clear tube... gas was clear. A week later I decide I'm going to try a different main jet. I pulled the plug and this bright orange gas came out. Last time I changed the jet, the gas was clear as expected. Here is a pic of the gas stained paper towel. Any ideas what the deal with this is... should I be worried about this? There is no leak, or gas on the ground. I also had the float bowl apart weeks ago and it was clean as a whistle. thanks...

I have had this problem as well when I was cleaning the liner out of my tank. From what I can tell it is the crap Ethanol in the gas that is making it turn colors after sitting. I now try to run non-Ethanol gas in my Dog from now on.

Ah... So you think it's just the ethanol?
It could be the ethanol but it could also be rust in the tank. Gas is always gold/orange colored in a clear jar but too yellow/gold or orange could be a sign of your tank liner being bad and the tank rusting.

Maybe someone pissed in your tank....

No, see... That's just it... They couldn't have pissed in my tank, because the gas that I drained out of my tank was clear. Someone must have pissed directly into my float bowl after having consumed copious amounts of Orange Tang! Thanks guys... Love it when the problem's solved! ;-)

It was actually a much brighter orange then what I imagine rust tainted gas would look like

...Maybe condensation inside the float bowl? I am in Florida, and it has been about 400 degrees and 800 percent humidity for the past two months.

Water in gas could come from several sources. You have to consider how many different storage tanks that gas was pumped into and out of before it ended up in your tank. Also the alcohol in gas will draw moisture. And the process of cracking crude oil in a refinery uses steam injected directly into the crude oil.

One last thought. What color float is in your carb? It could be breaking down because of injector/carb cleaner or something else in the gas.

OH Shit, not Sven and a gas full of air from this guy!

Crude is simply distilled and weights of liquid form in a condensed state. There is jet fuel, diesel, race, pump, kerosine, all simply boiled out.

What color is oil? Orangeegold in color, correct? Thin out crude, what color is oil?

You cannot create or destroy oil, so it reverts right back to crude called sludge.

Who is heavier, oil or water? Water. So I live in a wet climate, did my condensation drop into the bottom of the bowl? I guess not. Then, there was no water mixing with the gas.

When it's hot out, or just say I walk away from an open container of gasoline, see this vapor wave out of the opening? Wasn't that gas evaporating away thru the vent tube of the carb, so the bowl has 14.7 present on top of the gas so it pushes the fuel out the jet hole?

So if I let the gas continue to vapor away, I still do not remove all of the gas. Why?
Solid = Crude
Liquid = Gasoline
Gas = Vapor

So you mean we are back to simple science you cannot create or destroy matter? Why diddle lent you say that in the first place! Cheeze IS H for Hell UP Me! I can't start my bike with solids around my jets being clogged wit green dried out gas now, not orange in color when in liquid form.

Why was my gas white? It had all the properties like pop a can of soda and you have fizz. Your can had a tiny leak and the fizz is flat or slowly getting there turning color.

You mean if I keep breathing I look this color. Hold my breath and I turn red. Stop breathing I turn white? Y U D Composing Moe There Fork Her! He did it again! :roll:

What is the best chemical reaction but vinegar: etching that solid right off the brass, aluminum, my bike idles again! :hi:
