Painting like Krazy!!!

Well, since I finished the flat black pinup tank, I have had the opportunity over the last couple of days to paint like crazy. By that, I mean in the last few days I have painted a tank blank (plastic half tank for decoration), computer case, two hooded sweatshirts and five hats. Here is a quick showing of what I have been doing.

First the tank. I am heading out to the east coast for two weeks starting next Tuesday. The following Friday, there is the annual winter dinner that the MC group I ride with (Road DAwgs) has. So, last year I airbrushed a few items for door prizes and it was a big hit, so I thought I would do it again this year.

While cleaning up my garage, I discovered a tank blank I had that has been laying around for the last two or three years. I thought this would be a great start. I decided to try something different, in terms of a graphic, then what I usually do. So, I just started taping out a quick design and then started painting.

I used all House of Kolor paints. I decided to start with a black base coat. Then I quickly taped out some graphics and these were painted with a metallic silver basecoat. I cut some letters and put them on the tank in a semi-circular fashion before adding my top coat. Following that I added some pale gold basecoat over the silver. I then used Kandy pagan gold in the front of the tank and Kandy apple red from the back of the tank. I blended the two colors toward the front half.

After that, I masked off those graphics and added some more. I started with basecoat white and then went over that with snow white pearl. I then masked that off and did another section starting with silver/white marbelizing. On top of that I added a Kandy purple that I made from mixing Kandy apple red and Kandy cobalt blue. As an extra, I also added some fine blue/green metal flake to this purple kandy.

Everything was then pinstriped with silver. I then airbrushed the Road Dawgs logo, which is a bulldog. After that, I did two quick coats of clear.

Here is the end result.

Next on the agenda was the computer cases. This was for a friend and it was just a quick, add some paint and get it done. He thought a skull or two would be cool. I did a graphic in flat black, added a design with some skulls in it and threw in some blue fire. On the other side panel there wasn't much room so I just added a skull with the fire. Here is that.

Next up was one of the hooded sweatshirts. Last year I did a big skull in white, with just a one red eye. It was a hit, so I decided to do another skull, but this time with some color (I was inspired by a t-shirt I saw at Sturgis this year). This was done with a flag theme. Then, because it is a law enforcement club, I added some lettering at the bottom. Everything was free hand except for the lettering. Here is the first sweatshirt.

At the same time, I did a couple of fedora style hats. These were fun and fast too do. One was a simple skull with fire, then another was a bulldog, and a third was just blue flames. Here they are:

Then today I finished up with another hooded sweatshirt and a hat for the ladies. On the sweatshirt I did a bulldog riding a bike. It is primarily all done in just white with a little coloring in the eye, collar and cigar. I had sketched this design from a t-shirt about eleven or twelve years ago. I found it again a few days ago so I hung it on the wall and used it as my reference for my sweatshirt. Here is how that one turned out:

My princess bride, miss Carol always insist on doing something for the ladies. She picked up this womans hat and I airbrushed a quick Ed Hardy type tattoo design on it. Here is how that turned out:

So, it has been a fun week of painting like Krazy! I got the pinup tank done and I will ship that out Monday and bring it to the dinner and present it to the customer, plus I got to have fun and just paint like a fool and now I will have some door prizes that will be one of a kind. Who knows, I have a knit watch cap that's just ripe for something....maybe tomorrow, err...I guess I mean today....must be the fumes............

Yeah, well I retired in 2004 but ended up in Minnesota due to family reasons. Now, as soon as we can dump this house, I will be out of this god forsaken snowy hell and living in the promised land of Arizona.

We have been looking at homes on and off for almost a decade out there and finally settled on the Prescott area. We spoke with a realtor last night and hope to get things moving by mid February.
