painted the rims

Decided to try and add a little color to my wheels. I scratched the area with
60 grit, masked it off and sprayed about 10 light coats of black. Once dry, I
wet sanded in the bathtub with 2000. I polished it up with a couple coats
and this is the end result. I didnt have a perfect place for them to dry so
there are some imperfections in the paint. One even has a cat hair in it! Im
not worried about the imperfections because you cant see them unless youre
right down on the rims. Total expense, 15hrs and $10.

Thank you all for the compliments.
This was more of an experiment than anything. Thats why I didnt powdercoat or have it professionally done. As I told my friends, if I dont like it Ill sand it off. No big deal. I chose those spots for convenience. Ive been up to 45mph and no issues. I doubt Ill have any problems. I wanted blue to match my bike but figured I had black spray paint lying around. When I decide to go blue, Ill have it done by a pro. Thanks again.

You can also try "Plasti Dip" its a spray coating for chrome mags. The good thing is that if you don't like it, it just peels off like a "skin" coating. There is no prepping the wheel either, just wipe with presol and spray on.

:cheers:Great job man, looks awesome! I've been toying with the idea of doing something similar on my 05 Choppers rims. After seeing this I just might have to give it whirl!

Twisted, thanks for compliments. I taped everything off and spray painted them. That was the hard way. I then carefully handpainted the remaining areas with $1 model paint from Wally World. Hand painting is so much easier and less expensive. So far the paint has stayed on.
