Hey all, thought I'd let you know the tank came back and looks great! They sent another gas cap though. This one is a "clicker" cap, and the old one wasn't. Anyone know if it will make a difference?
Gotta head to the garage soon and install.![]()

BDM replaced my tank a while back due to the liner releasing from the wall and it also came with the new type gas cap. It works fine but seems made much cheaper than my original one. It almost seems like it is plastic and my old one was a billet piece. The new one works fine though...I changed over to the newer version ratcheting gas cap after dropping my original non-ratcheting one and f-ing it up beyond repair.....it is much better in my opinion as it seals just fine and you cannot inadvertently over tighten it.
Just curious - look under your tank and at the mount - there should be two bolts and an empty hole - where is that "empty hole" to the front or rear of the bike? If its in front then all is good and possibly a new tank. If it is in the rear it's not mounted correctly - hence the gap (and you should feel a slight wobble) - Again, Just curious let us know....TKSI just had my tank repainted and it took 5-6weeks, BDM did a great job. My bike is 1-1/2 yrs old and it was taken care of no charge. I think it is a different tank because the gap from the seat to the back of the tank is different. I did check and the back stop is tight against the tank. The tank also had the cap that clicks and they did put tank liner in it. Cudos to BDM.
As far as the paint not holding up----shit happens
Went to Daytona bike week and the new gas cap caused a vacuum lock and shut me down after about 1 hr of riding. After a little thought, it came to me that the cap was the only difference since riding last, loosened it and was on my way. BD removed the white part on the inside of the cap, they said that was what caused the vacuum. However after only filing the gas tank once since it was repainted, the paint is already lifting around the bung.I just had my tank repainted and it took 5-6weeks, BDM did a great job.
