They make a little aliminum tool that takes them off. It's made just for taking them off. I'm sure you can get it from your local motorcycle parts shop or you van do what I did before I got the little tool. I used large Jesus clip pliars but when you use those you have to be EXTREMELY carefull not to scratch your tank..

If you don't know for sure finger it. By that I mean stick your middle finger in there and you should be able to feel it. If it's broke you'll be able to move the vent tube around. Mine happens to be broken too. On my 2009 Mastiff it's to the right. Of the hole. Sitting on the bike it's about 3 o'clock. I'm going to tackle it this winter. Remove the tank and get it out of there.

thanx paulhart don't know if i want to fix it now. the noise is driving me crazy.i already tried to finger i really couldn't get it to move so maybe that's not it but i know what piston slap sounds like. already had that and fixed.also know what the tappet top end noise is also under control but this sucks. also took care of motor mounts. but i can make most of the noise go away when i grab the top of the tank so i'm thinking vent tube.but really can't move it from fingering thought maybe further in???? :bang::bang::bang::bang: any ideas?? thanxx

Good advice there from Mobsta. If that tube is broke off like mine is you can move it with your finger. Mine sounds like shit at about 3000 rpm. I've heard of them breaking at the other end also. That tube is pretty strong. If it were broke off at the bottom of the tank I don't know if you could move it of not. Maybe start with the cap off and stick your finger in there and while putting pressure on it rev it up.
