Paint puzzle

Ok - this K9 I just bought has checked out really good so far - everything looks almost flawless on all the painted parts and I love the way it looks. I do have a question about how/why they painted CHOPPER on the gas tank of this beautiful K9 — I knew it before I bought it , doesn’t bother me in any way - I think its cool and I like the minimum graphics on just top of the tank.
I thought some of you afficianatos might know the story on this (if there is one) Like I said - I’m completely tickled with the paint and the bikes condition—

You think it was repainted ??? I wouldn’t know how to tell it was I guess - I thought it was from the factory

OKC Thunder Cycles was a BDM dealer in OKC. Prolly did the repaint.... they closed a while back I believe?

Perhaps the tape was just for delivery of the bike, a special order paint scheme?

My K9 had the tape on the back side of the covers. The dealership sent the covers back to Big Dog to repair the tabs on the recall.

Call Shawn he has a great painter. When I was there a couple of months ago he had just got one back from paint it was a sweet show bike it was taped off and a sign don’t touch.

K9's are chopper style bikes, probably why they painted chopper on it. A Mastiff is a pro street style bike so you wouldnt paint chopper on a Mastiff but could on the K9, Chopper and Ridgeback types and get away with it.
