my rear cylinder had a lot of scoring. I haven't had time to post the pics yet.

If you can I'd be curious to hear what your crank run out is. If you take your crank somewhere try to get the measurements.

I was told by my shop my crank run out was .006. I'm still waiting to see what Dark Horse says the damage is to the crank

6k of run out is on the high end of specs according to S&S. Crank bearings should tell if you have excessive movement plus where the crank seal rides on the crankshaft. When you score a hole this can cause vibration (lack of compression too) similar to motor mounts. Some things I would be checking are compression release sealing, intake leaks, to find out if this was your main problem that caused scoring see where Im going. To make a long story short its called failure analysis some shops use it some do not. Lots of things can cause scoring besides heat like dirt going past the air cleaner taking out the rings then transferring metal from the piston to the liner but this would cause excessive oil usage which you did not have. Like I said no expert here but you need to have your shop get to the root of your problem so it does happen again plus a good examination of old parts used in the build. 05chop

I confirmed my crank shipped from darkhorse on Friday so with Thanksgiving I might be back on the road in a couple weeks.

The whole assembly was screwed. cost from darkhorse was $1140 This includes balancing and redoing the rods.

My shop says they have another S&S motor coming in from a Swift chopper and the customer says it is vibrating more than usual. My shop is still saying crankshaft shift and poor tolerances when motor was built

I just ordered a Thunderheart ignition. I hope I'm done with problems no chopper for a couple months SUCKS!

How is your rebuild coming?
