Opinions on Ultima transmissions

I was wondering if anyone has ever used an Ultima trans in any of their bikes? I wanted to switch Sues bike to a six speed, she currently has a Jims five speed. Can't really beat the price, almost could consider it a disposable transmission..

Yep for the price I would go for it...

I think ultima is fine for the most part. It's a little tough to get replacement gaskets, etc unless if you know where to go otherwise I have zero issues with ultima and lots of guys like the motors.

I'm running an ultima oil pump on my big dog and it seems to actually keep pressure better than the S&S. I think I may have more miles on it now than the stock pump

Jims is a great transmission why looking to go 6spd any specific reason?

For the longer highway rides, we do a lot of the two lane highways at 60-70mph.

You could probably buy the baker or jims 6 speed swap kit too..not sure I'd go that route since the ultima is cheaper but .

BTW this is a true 6 speed not an over drive. Different Than our BDM..5th gear is 1:1 on this transmission

I looked at the Jims six speed swap, it is a bit pricey. For the price of the Ultima, I'd pick up two and have a spare on hand.

had one for 2 years not one thing bad to say but i did not beat it up.

It's for Sue's bike, so it certainly won't be beat on.

Than go for it my was good I think the guy i sole it to is still using it. ps like 25000 miles.

Don’t know much about their transmissions but I use their starters I have them in both bikes. By far they have outperformed all other more expensive starters that I have used.

I've sold and installed 6 of them with no issues. They're still running well as far as I know.
