Well, replaced the fuel line without the fuel filter, cleaned the carb, replaced the plugs. Happy to say it ran without any issues today. Now to work on the decel pop. Thanks for all that commented.

My bike had the same issues the other day. Turned out the plug wires were not connected good to the coil and trying to work off under hard accel. Finally fell off how I found it. But glad your riding.

If your problem resurfaces loosen your gas cap when it happens and see if the problem is corrected, could be cap not venting properly.

Decel pop is more than likely due to jetting, leaks In the intake or exhaust can also cause this.
to check to leaks brake clean with the engine warm if the idle changes it’s a leak. Other than that may want to check the jetting

Paul, isn't the deceleration pop caused by an exhaust leak? Like oxygen being introduced into the exhaust gases causing them to light off again. If so I don't think the test you described would help find it. I think that is how it works.

Well if his exhaust is leaking at the manifold, gaskets could need replaced or tightened down causing a leak.

Its easy to check that first, more than likely it needs re jetted.
I try to always check the easy shit first before taking things apart ..

Keep us posted. This can be a real tail chaser. Like I said, just adjust the fuel mixture screw and it will go away. But so might some fun.

Glad to hear it was just that, it's been common seems the aftermarket fuel filters just restrict the flow enough.

Since you are in weather good enough to ride, start with the easy crap first. As your riding just spin that idle/mix screw counter clockwise just an 1/8th turn at a time see if that helps....

Mine was doing the same thing this last summer (popping and dying on deceleration ) I adjusted the idle/mix screw counter clockwise as everyone on this form suggested and it straight right out quit doing it . Haven’t had an issue with it since.

Either I have been working or it has been raining. I'm just glad it was something simple. I'll check the intake and exhaust then get into the carb if needed. Funny thing is when I rode it home and the next day the pop wasn't near as bad. I'm not concerned. I feel that tweeking the carb will get it cleared. I will say it's a whole different experience than my other bikes. Can't wait to get back on it! I just need the rain to stop!

A coil can be bad under load and idle good just something to look at, I had a wire loose inside my ing box ( thunderheart) same results if you have access to a coil or ing box not hard to change for test ride
