Got to play with it a little tonight. Still no fuel leak. Did some reading on this forum and found out I had the wrong oil in my primary. I had almost two quarts of mobile one synthetic in there. Switched it ove to redline 32 ox this evening. Didn't go for a ride yet because I still cant get the carb tuned in. I'll trytomorrowand post what I can figure out Any thought to the primary fluid? Think that can cause a drop in mpg like I'm seeing ???

Running Mobile 1 Synthetic in your primary may make your clutch slip, but it won't hurt anything. Running 2 quarts? How did you get that much in there without it flowing out the inspection cover? Doesn't matter. There is a vent on the primary and if you had to much, it would have only vented out. I don't think overfilling your primary has anything to do with your fuel problem. Pull the carb and check the jets like already mentioned, both intermediate and main.

2 quarts may have drained out because of a bad oil seal on the crank. Sounds like something major is wrong with this bike. Have you checked to make sure no fuel is in the oil? Smell it? Check the level? No way it is burning that much.

So I have not had time lately until now to revisit this thread until tonight. It was my ignition all along and it was brand new (dyna 2ki) I am always amazed at electrical issues. Seems when I would get the bike under a load the back cylinder would be carrying the bike and the front would be intermittent. I found the problem because I burnt my leg on the rear cylinder tail pipe while he front was Luke warm. I used a laser thermal meter and my back cylinder was about 65 degrees hotter than he front. Switched out ignition and now all is fine.

Bigdog thanks but it didn't loose that much it was just overfilled. Drained it and replace with redline working well now.

I wish I had more money.
That's crazy! You couldn't hear the difference when the front cut out? I recently broke the front cylinder coil signal wire and new instantly. The sound and loss of power was instant.

65 miles so far on new tank of gas. Will post milage as soon as I hit he reserve tank. I am a new rider so I although I herd the sound difference I didn't think much of it thought it was more me being a pussy on the throttle. Only had the bike for about two months now and it had always done it so I also thought it was normal. I just kept researching and reading every post I coy,d until I figured it out. Now when I ride I can totally hear and feel the difference. Power is amazing

well it got strange on me again... Was on the upgrade of a big bridge crossing the Delaware river, was on about 75 miles on the tank of gas and it started to sputter as if it was running out so i reached down and flipped it to the reserve tank but since i am still new to this bike i actually turned the gas off (dumb ass) so after i am stalled on the mid span of the commodore barry bridge i figure out the issue get the petcock on reserve start up and go to the gas station. NOW FOR THE WEIRD PART - BIKE ONLY TOOK A GALLON AND A HALF OF GAS. Why would it die like that? I guess I am back to trouble shooting

I scanned the first 3 pages and didnt see anyone mention it but I may have missed it?

Could be vapor lock, did you remove the check valve in the stock cap?

Thanks to all for the suggestions. Removed that check valve from gas cap months ago. Cleaned out the carb, petcock, and drained the gas last time this happened. Rode through probably three tanks of gas since then. I guess I'll try it again and see if I find anything. How can you get away from the vapor lock? Re-run the gas line?

So i finally got this thing figured out and working well...

Although I an reluctant to post what was wrong because basically is was just:
new owner dumb-ass (again)

So initially I was running on one cylinder and never knew it because i was new to the bike, i was getting piss poor milage and performance. I switched out the ignition (went with Dyna 2ki (which has been great thus far) and I noticed immediately the increased performance. Then what i was doing was measuring the speedo milage every time I filled up. Only problem was that I had no idea how to fill up the bike: I was only putting enough fuel in until the pump auto cut off. For whatever reason my tank makes it cut off at about 1.5 gallons. When I finally took my time and very slowly pulled back the vapor protector on the gas pump and slowly pump and watch the level (as best i could) i got over 3 gallons of gas in the bugger. So since then i have been saving my receipts and writing my milage off the speedo every time i fill up and i am averaging about 33-36 MPG
