One Off Custom

A buddy of mine just built this bike for a guy. All the metal work he did himself from scratch(Excluding raw fenders that he cut). He built the frame from scratch and as I said did all the metal work. The guy is a genius with a piece of metal and a welder! Only thing is the guy he built it for should have gotten ED to paint the tins cause it looks like a kid did the airbrushing. Tell me what ya think!

The bike in the background is the next one that he built for this guys son I think!

Bike looks great but the airbrush work is weak like you said, hate to see a nice bike like this roll around such amatuer looking work.

Yea the guy who owns the bike is the one that actually painted the frame and tins. The airbrush guy just did the airbrushing and I just about fell out when I was told what he charged!!!! I am not gonna post it on here or else ED will go wayyy up on his prices!! Ha! But yea I agree shame for such a sweet ride to be ruined by amatuer artwork!

very nice. It looks in the second pic as though the rear head / rocker is actually touching the body work.

It's really close but not touching. Just the angle of the pic. It also looks like the petcock is touching but it isn't either.

Might be my imagination, but it looks like color of the rear of the tank and the frame do not match. Metal work is cool though.

Yea not sure what the guy did there but you are right they DON'T match!!!! As was already said it is a shame for this bad ass bike to be riding around with such a shitty paint job!!!!

Here is what he told me bout the cost ....... "Frame about 25OO... Depends on the rear tire size and if the want an oil tank up front. NOTHING is touching anywhere! Thats craftsmanship! CLOSE is COOL.
A custom gas tank starts about 2OOO... Thats with hidden mounts and a popup cap and a petcock fitting and crossovers(from side to side)"

Not sure if ya noticed but the scoop in the front is actually the oil tank. All he did was the metal work. The rest of the cost of a bike like this would depend on what ya wanted to put on it I guess. He is gonna send me some pics of the bike he built for himself and I will post them up when I get em. But I think with the cost he would gharge someone for the metal work he has about $15K in his. Like I say it all depends on how crazy ya wanna get with wheels and front end and so on!!!! But he is a magician with metal!!! We are gonna build me a new set of pipes when I get back in the country.... and I will put them up here too cause they gonna be bad ass!!!!!

WOW! I just caught this thread. Thanks for the props everybody! I agree, even a good solid color would look better than that S**T!
I have to ask, what did the airbrush work cost???

With the mismatched paint, bad graphics, cables over the triples, head way to close to the frame, I have to wonder about the rest of the build. Does nothing for me. Just being honest.

All my friend did was the metal work! As far as the way the rest of the bike was put together and painted .... nothing to do with him. As far as the head being REAL close to the bodywork ...... that is exactly what the customer wanted. Now each to their own on likes and dislikes. I personally wouldn't want the bike myself even if minor things were changed and even ED painted it. It's just not my style of bike. But the metal craftsmanship is second to none I can assure ya! Ed the only way I am gonna tell ya how much was charged for the pre-school paint job is if you promise not to go up on your prices!!!!!! :lol:

Hey ADVhunter, I can't promise anything! But I know (all too well) that there are plenty of hacks out there who think they are the s**t, but lack the talent it takes to back up their egos. This is true of just about every industry. It would be one thing to give a guy a good deal because this guy is just an amature - and that may be the case. But to charge someone a top-dollar price, you have to deliver top-dollar quality. And I do not see top-dollar quality.

Ed - I couldn't agree with you more. The guy was charged $2800 for that S*#T!!!!!! I told my buddy to tell him to get his money back and send em to you and his Bike would be the shit around our little town .... or hell almost any town he went to!!!!! keep up the OUTSTANDING work Bro!!!!!!
If I can talk moma into it I will be sending you my tins soon!
