Greetings! New to the site, I posted in introductions to let you know who I am. I have searched the site a bit, and of course I found many threads on replacing failed EHC's. I have a 2003 Big Dog in my shop, not sure what model, it is a softail chopper, with a failed EHC. After doing some research I have learned that the model year 2003 Big Dog used a unique EHC, not produced by Thunderheart. The owner of the bike wants it wired "old school" using components that can be serviced. I have wired a number of bikes, starting from scratch, so I have some knowledge. I am planning on using the existing handlebar harnesses, along with much of the other components in place already. I have ordered the proper Mate-N-Lok connectors to replace the ones buried in the EHC. I am replacing the ignition system with one that has all components in the cone. I am planning on using regular circuit breakers, a 30 Amp and two 15 Amp. Adding a start relay, and a harness from Thunderheart that reduces voltage to the dash indicator lights.
Is there anything I am missing in regards to making this in to a typical wiring system? I have been very impressed with the knowledge base here on this site, and am hoping someone may have some advice for me in regards to this project. Thanks in advance for your advice.....
