Can you tell which Kind of oil it is - Engine, Tranny or Brake? (Viscosity - color). This could give you some indication as where to look.

On my bikes (RSD) I think the rear brake line that runs underneath and between the tranny and primary - if the same is the case with you - DO NOT RULE THAT OUT - (although - you would have known by now cause of the loss of power and movement in the brake pedal)

good luck.

Strange, the rear brakes have gotten quite weak, but I assumed it was from tranny fluid getting on the pads and rotor. Now I am not sure.

Ooooooppppssss!!!! forgot to mention - don't rule out the starter and or primary....
Starter - now when you have a WET primary, oil has known to seep into the starter - THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME. (Then I switched to an open primary) - found an oil leak just about where you describe it - Opened the whole damn thing thinking it was a busted tranny oil seal - NO it was the remaining oil that had seeped into the starter from the primary.
Check that too - may sound crazy but just don't rule it out.

Good way to check is open the master cylinder and check the oil level - make sure you use a CLEAN area and tools when doing this - let us know.
Also - DOT 5 is kind off purple in color - any indication on color

Well, I am pretty sure I found the culprit. My over-filling the transmission must have just been coincidence. So, what was it you ask?

Front two bolts that go thu inner primary and thread into the motor, top bolt was very loose, bottom bolt was about to fall out. I am still going through everything else to make sure, but that is where I traced the leak to. I went ahead and pulled the outer primary, just to check all the internals, and make sure everything was good and tight. Hope this fixes it.

And there you have it! Hopefully! Good Job! :2thumbs:

But I'd still keep an eye on the other areas for "slight" leakage.

Since you previously thought it was the tranny, I agree with some others here that I'd still keep an eye on that area, especially around the area of the starter seals or "O-Ring Gaskets" due to they're known to leak primary fluid.

As far as the weak braking power you're describing, check the rear rotor & brake pads for "oil" contamination. If they're fairly "new" pads I "thoroughly" clean as described below and reinstall. If they're worn more than 50%, I'd just go ahead and replace them with new. I'd go ahead and save the old ones and clean with brake cleaner or carb. cleaner to get the oil off & out of the brake material, and save them for spares if needed in a pinch.

But,... Good Job "D"!...We'll make a fully "CERTIFILABLE" :D wrench out of you yet! :2thumbs:

Oh....Be careful what you wish or ask for!
