Oil tank clean out????

So after my miserable bottom end bearing failure, my buddy who is rebuilding my engine for me is trying to save me as much £££'s as possible and has given me my first task of cleaning out my oil tank of any shards of metal that maybe sat in there. I have removed the tank and drained all the oil and wondered if any of you guys had any hot tips on doing this or have had to do it yourselves before. Any advice from you wonderful people would be grately appreciated.

Hummmmm..... not an expert but, common sense tells me that since you have the oil tank out it should be easy enough to clean it with ANYTHING APPROPRIATE... gezzzz even water & soap/degrease... then a good rinse and it should be good to go!

A couple good washing sessions and it should end up "sparkly clean"!!!

My suggestion is a small chain placed inside the tank. add a couple of cups of fuel as a solvent, cap all openings and shake.....and shake. This will dislodge and impacted debris inside the tank. Poor everything out and repeat. The reason not to use nuts and bolts is they would all need to be counted to make sure everything comes back out.
the tank can also be inspected with a bor-scope.

That would fill the tank, he wants to clean it out. I say throw a box of x-lax in the tank and give it 24hrs. lol
Seriously, I would clean it out with gas to get all the sludge out and then blow air in it to dry it out.
