Ok...I admit I am just a little crazy...and I'm prone to making stupid mistakes...but this problem has me totally baffled. I decided to do my end of year service today while it's still a little warm. I'm having back problems so I didn't ride my 06 K9 before draining the oil. Pulled the Oil plug with the Fill Cap off just like always... oil is flowing perfectly. After about 1/2 quart it dribbles and then stops. After a few WTF's I rock the bike Side to Side...nothing. Next I jack up the bike...first the front...no drainage. I repeat for the back. WOW...is this really happening? My oil pressure has been consistent. I think it's around 40 psi at idle (Gauge). So...I decided to start over. I Fill up the Oil Tank, about 3/4 qt and it's full. Start it up...pressure good...sounds ok. Drain it again. Same S#@%!!! Help.

Thanks for not ending your message with "Dumb A#@! LOL...I'm laughing at myself now, but I wasn't laughing yesterday. My back was killing me and what I anticipated as a 30 minute job turned into a 2 hour mess. I've changed my oil several times (Correctly), I don't know what I was thinking yesterday. Anyway, I'll do it right next weekend. Appreciate you letting me off the hook so easy.

Never understood why everyone gets all excited about draining the crankcase. Not necessary but isn’t going to hurt anything.

That's exactly why I don't plan on ever removing it again. Too much of a chance for disaster. I tend to be a bit heavy on a Wrench anyway. That little bit of oil can stay there. If I had ridden the bike like I was supposed to then most of it should have returned to the tank anyway.

I really like this system for changing my oil. I think HMAN mentioned it to me. Gets all the oil from the crankcase before it mixes with the fresh oil. Of course if you don’t care about 20oz + of dirty sump oil not a big deal. D52EFDC5-3FBB-4BDA-B1D4-A2A76D08F5E8.jpeg

I use mine every other time I change my oil generally. Does keep the oil cleaner. Wish I could get in the habit of every time but I'm usually pressed for time and got a run I want to do. I know I'm retired and should have all the time I need but that got offset by how much I have slowed down physically since retirement (and a few chronic injuries as well)

I just watched the Scavenger video. Looks like it's a simple tool/technique that's well worth a few more minutes. I'm going to order one. Appreciate the post.
