just installed auto meter gauge what should pressure be when i am sitting at idle ????????
Mine runs about 10-12 lbs when it's warmed up. 30 when I'm going down the highway. I have seen it drop to under 10 lbs when it really hot and sitting at a stop sign but the newer models with the hi output oil pumps really have no pressure issues.

I'd try another one to see if your reading is different, sounds high for hot idel oil pressure, I use the gel filled unit

Well something interesting happened last night while riding to work and at work. I noticed while running at about 50mph that my oil pressure was low. Running about 15psi depending on throttle and such. Then at the the light it was down to 2-5. WTF.

Get to my station and when I shut down the motor I realize what's up when the needle drops to the left side of the dead stop pin aka about -10 or -15 psi instead of the zero it should be at. The needle got jacked somehow.

Called up Auto Meter and told them what's up. They are having me send it in. They will either fix it or replace it free of charge.

Great Customer service if you ask me. Well, as long as they deliever what they say. Will keep you all advised. For now, the tappet cap is back in.
Mine did this exact same thing about 2 months ago:(
I called Auto Meter like Gas did...they said send it back to them...and within a week...I had a new gauge sent to me free of charge!:whoop::2thumbs:
cleaned out the tappet screen and put back on...no problems since then:D

What's the newer models with the hi output oil pumps?

What year? Model? and how can you tell?

I want a 0 to 60PSI gauge instead of a 0 to 100PSI to get better resolution at lower pressures. My 100PSI gauge bounces off the zero peg when ideling in the summer.

I'm riding a 2007 Bulldog.

Thanks

05 and newer have the hi pressure pump and it stamped right on the face of the pump cover.

Liquid filled gauges are actually Glycerine filled to reduce vibration damage and improve readability
That's really their purpose in life

I just got this Oil Pressure Gauge yesterday and installed it and it fits perfect on my 05 Ridgeback. I got it through Freedom Cycle in Delaware. You want to talk to Gail or Kathy. Excellent service and always has a part that I ordered by the next day! Check them out!
The gauge is from Wimmer: $80
It comes in silver, white, or black faced.

Here is the picture of the gauge:

I just ordered a rocker box mounted kit from Jerzee Customs. I had been talking with Greg, owner, since early this year about doing one of his kits for a Big Dog. You can look at one of the kits he has on Ebay: Rocker Box Mounted Oil Pressure Gauge Kit, S&S Engine:eBay Motors (item 370302364471 end time Jan-04-10 14:07:08 PST)

Greg ended up becoming a Big Dog owner this year so fitment of the kit was mocked up on his bike. I just placed the order yesterday. I'll follow up with pic's and review.
