Your pressure on your bike, when operating temp, will be at idle from 10-20, at RPM 20-40.

T-mack... the bikes are just hard on them..

Well Autometer stepped up. Didn't ask for my reciept or how old the unit was. Nothing.

Got this in the mail today.

Brand new. Says right on the packing slip... replaced!

So I slipped it back on the bike.

Got to love customer service like that!!!

If I remember correctly when I was investigating what oil pressure gauge to use, Autometer mentions in their data sheet for the oil gauge that it is "Not recommended for high vibration installations". That's why the oil filled ones are available - some having a better PLUG! My Drag Specialties one seems to have a better sealed plug. -no problems here, yet.

6k+ miles now and no problems.

I went with the Drag specialties, has no plug, mine is installed with the 'O'
oil pressure reading pointing stright down, [if its not straight down ive got some!!]
nice to have you can see the engine getting hotter & hotter with the oil pressure drop

Well I will tell ya. I rode it the next day... this one doesn't bounce at all like the old one did. I may have had a bad unit from the start.

I just bought the Autometer gel packed oil pressure guage. They say it's better than the fluid filled ones and has no plug. The un-fluid filled one I had vibrated around way too much for my liking.

I got the white faced one this time since my eyes are getting a little worse these days.

I would never run a liquid filled gauge on anything that produced heat again. I had a liquid filled fuel pressure gauge on my Camaro and the pressure dropped the longer the car ran until finally zero. The black auto meter is what I'm running now. For you guys that think you have low oil pressure hot at idle...make damn sure it's not a liquid filled gauge.

The gauge is installed in the tappet screen hole. Just below that is the oil pressure relief valve spring. Beside that, there is a steel braided line. Where is that line going to? Is it an oil line going to the tank or is it the vent line going to the tank?

YOu have 3 braided lines going by that area that are all oil lines... not sure which one you are refering to.

I use the fitting behind (towards the cylinder base) for my pressure gauge so you don't have to f*ck with it when you clean the tappet screen.

Your top line is your vent

Gas: I'm referring to the steel braided line in the 5th picture on page 1 where the tappet screen plug is off and BRP is written. Where does that line go to on the tank? Is it an oil line or a vent line?

The line that goes in front of the tappets are. That is where the rear breather vent line WAS at. I have since then re-routed it.
