Both my oil pressure and neutral indicator lights are on all the time. Bike runs fine, no sign of low oil pressure and I DEFINITELY know when I'm not in neutral. I tried replacing both switches on the bike but same problem. No shorts or frays in the wiring the best I can tell. Does anyone have any ideas?
May be a broken wire, more than likely right out the terminal of the tach board. Have it is occur a few times, usually shortly after I had my center counsul off.
The pigtail that goes into the Tach board is very stiff and the wires are very small, they tend to break if not very carefull when taking off the center consul. The times it has happened to mine, it was right at the solder terminal hole on the board and due to the very tight fit, it was hard to detect.
Would check it out and if you see a broken connection there (look very very close), then that is your problem. Oh when it happens it tends to be the neutral and or oil.
If it broken, you can buy a new one for around $100 or so, or you can get a good solder kit out including a desoldering syrign and redo it. Somewhat easy if you take your time and use the right tools. It helps to have a very small index drill to clean up the hole after the solder is removed prior to resolder.
Let us know what you find.
Oh suggest if you do have to repair or even take it out to look, that you give it some waterproofing using some good wire proofing spray that leave a coating to protect.
Do a search through the old thread and if not mistaken GasMan did a good write up on such.
