Oil on back tire

Hey guys, I just changed all of my fluids last week and noticed that my back tire has several spots all the way around it, I checked all plugs and they are good but I did see a few drops on one of my shocks(softail K9) and found that the vent tube above the shocks that goes to the top of the primary had a few drops in it.. Is this an issue or did I just not get it all drained out of primary making it too full when I added 1qt. thanks for any help Mike

Damn! I didn't realize you had a vent going into the top of the primary. I'll have to take another look when I get home. Wish I could help, but I can't even help myself here.

that sounds most likely. do you actually have a vent tube or just a vent screen. if you have a screen, see if theres any oil going down the back side of the inner primary. never heard of a vent tube??

Never seen a primary with a vent tube. You sure you're not speaking of the tranny vent tube? You can see it behind your shift linkage. Clean it all up then check it daily to track it down.

It is the goodyear tube behind the shifter linkage, I did notice when I changed my tranny that it seemed a bil low.. do you check the tranny on the side stand or standing straight up, and do you just put the dipstick in to the base of the threads or do you screw it in, I know this sounds like a new guy so OK im new lol

Owners manual tells you to check it when sitting up and put the dipstick in but don't screw it down.

Raywood is right but also is suppose to be at operating temp. when you check it. I have 06 K-9 and it take 20 ozs.

Just a thought. Check the oil line fittings at the oil tank they are a 11/16. I have a 08 K-9 and found two of those lines finger tight from Big Dog. Those may be just loose enough to leak.:up:
