Oil Light Flickers

I was taking the K9 to the service center today to get the rear rim replaced due to the chrome peeling. First it was 95 here today with 85% humidity, I was in heavy stop and go city traffic for about 20 minutes of the ride, when I would stop at a red light and idle for a bit the oil light would flicker yellow. As soon as I idled up or took off when the light changed light goes out. I think I need to adjust the idle up just a bit, yes? I rather do my own adjustments and the heavy warranty stuff to the service center. What ya think, also I know there was other threads about an oil pressure gauge but the ones I saw there were problems with the gauge not working and which gauge to get and how to install one. Advice!! If anyone has the correct gauge and where to get it would be helpful. I know some have oil coolers but that only helps while your moving, oh I changed the oil not long ago and have a high flow K&P filter as well.

yes this is normal.. but check the idel speed. should be 1K.. the best oil pressure gauge is the autometer gel filler.. the oil filed jumped all over & didnt give a good reading when it got hot.

Sounds like you were getting that bike pretty hot. Check your oil level and make sure it isn't low, if low fill it. I would also check and see if your oil is thinning because of the higher temps, if it is, you should change the oil in it again. I would suggest getting a cooler for it, if you always encounter stop and go traffic. Yep, a pressure gauge would be a helpful addition also...

Yep, I think I need to crank the idle up a bit, not usually in soo much heavy traffic and today was smoking hot. I chged the oil less than 500 miles ago so I think I'm good. They'll have my bike for a couple of days replacing the rear rim anyway. Good thing I've got the Vrod or this weekend would suck for riding. I think everyone left work early today, traffic sucked, don't they have a job, they need to work for a livin. Wait I took 1/2 a day off today as well.. nevermind. Small but BUSY town of Lexington SC, my legs were cookin at each stop light.. never mind what the bike felt like.

Yellow????? Oil light is Red. If your idle is set too low all the Tach lights will flash. I think they do this at 950 rpm. You shouldn't have low pressure with the Hi-output pump you have. I had issues with my 03 cause it didn't have the hi-pressure pump but the 05 has not had any issues with this.

I would while you are at it check your tappet screen and ensure it's clean.

Yep as strange as it sounds YELLOW not red like when you turn the key on and not tach flashing either.. just YELLOW until I raise the RPM's a touch and OK, oh and I'm not color blind, I checked my manual also could'nt see anything about yellow.
