Oil light and Neutral Stay on when bike is off

The other day, I happend to go into my garage for something other than my bike, but looked up and noticed the oil light and neutral light were both on. I thought that I left the key in the ignition but went to check and no key. I left the battery tender off the bike, but was curious to see if the battery lost the charge due to the lights being on (about 1 week). I attempted to start the bike but the battery was dead. I jumped the bike and took it for a ride to see if the lights turn off when I shut it down again, but the lights stayed on. Has anyone every had this happen to them, and if so what was the issue?

This is only a guess but maybe very low battery voltage. What is the battery terminal voltage in this condition? Did the lights turn off while riding?

Yes, sometimes the RPM lights go off when the bike is running, could this be a battery problem?...I just purchased the battery last year, from batteries plus and before that my battery was only putting out half the cold cranking amps, which is why the bike would not start. The battery is still under warranty.

My bike did this once when I got caught in a down poor. I had water in the connectors at the EHC. Dried them out applied dielectric grease no more problem.

I would put a new battery in there and see what happens. Make sure to get a good one with lots of CCAs

DO NOT INSTALL A LITHIUM TYPE BATTERY. GO with an AGM type only.

Well Gentlemen, I checked all the cables and pulled out the EHC connectors and put electric grease on them and the problem still exists. Next, I pulled the Speedometer from the housing and checked the connections and noticed that there was rust right where the lights stay on, so I cleaned them up and still the problem exists. I believe since the rust was located on top of the speedo board, then there must be rust underneath, and there is no way to get that so, I am going to order the Dakota Digital and I think that may be the fix all. As of right now, my speedometer has not worked for over a year, but the odometer does, and I was planning on changing it out this winter, but since I think this is the root of the problem I will order the speedometer now.

Question, I have read that the blue light is better than the red. I was leaning on getting the red because it matches the bike. Does anyone have the red?...and if so how do you like it? and for those that have heard from someone that does have it, what have you heard.

I believe that since I have been caught in the rain several times over the years and noticed that the lights begin to blink when raining tells me that water got in the speedo, and over time, it wore out the circuit board. Any thoughts on that?... once I get the new speedo, I am going to make sure I seal it so no water gets inside.

My bike did the same thing after a wash. I spayed WD40 into the hand controls by way of the buttons before a wash. Problem solved.

Maybe the key switch is bad, pull a wire off the key switch and see if it don't go away.
