Hey everyone I believe this is now getting over my skill or TOOL level. On the front CYL. on the bottem oil seeps after a ride. It is now starting to show splattering on the primary. I had it to the dealers when small (at low mileage check) they cleaned it and sent me down the road. Now that the dealer went out I need service and warranted work ??? Any suggestions on how bad this is and a place to get things rite. can I go to any shop or only BDM certified?:bang:

V is gone now.

That's most likely the cylinder base gasket, it'll get worse if it's not sealed back up. Sorry!

PM BigDogTech and see if you guys are anywhere near close to each other, he could fix it easily! :2thumbs:

I have noticed the same on mine, it is the base gasket, and will only get worse. I wanted to tear it down and zero deck the heads and what not, but no $ for that right now.... I will keep an eye on mine and deal with it at a later date.

I would think that if it's still under warranty you'd have to take it to a BDM certified mechanic.

Good luck and let us know what you find.

A good prevention for the leakage in this area is a good warm-up prior to taking off. Gotta let that motor expand first.

Also have you changed out the air filter system to a different type? If so make sure the the vent lines in the heads are not plugged or that the check valve is not in backwards. If any of these have been done you will build up crank case pressure and can cause a oil leak.

Thanks .
Ray : Yes I have not let it warm up a few times.
Gas : No its not just grime build up, I get oil spots on the primary.
V : I have BDM air breather setup . BUT ---- what check valve are you referring to?

Black round looking thing (very technical description :D) in the middle of your PCV vent tub going between the heads and the breather.

In March I had an S&S .600 CAM installed on my 07 K-9 and Timmy at MC Motorcycle noticed when he was doing the operation that my gasket between crankcase to cylinder below carb was sticking out (about 3/4 of gasket was protruding out). Since he was already into it, he replaced the gasket on both heads. He said when they polish these heads at the factory that they actually make them to smooth where they mate together and the gasket could have a tendacy to slip out. While replacing, he took some of the smoothness out with a little 3m pad. Bro has an 06 K-9 and he checked his out and found the same thing. His isn't leaking now but could be trouble later on. Based on this post it looks to be a common problem. As stated earlier, probably a damn good idea to let the puppy warm real good before haulen ass. :2thumbs:

Same here a leak is going on the rear cylinder, between the rocker cover and the head, drips down to the primary, when the bike warms up when riding it goes away, what is the solution?

Taking the rocker covers off and replacing the head gasket or just taking the cover off and tightening the whole deal.
