Oil Leak From Bottom of Case

I noticed late last Fall that I had a small spot of oil under the bike after riding, usually about the size of a nickle. I thought I had a primary leek, because the back side of my the primary and the bottom of my bike had some fluid on it. I replaced the primary seals, cleaned up the under side of the bike, filled the primary and put it back the kick stand. While it was on the jack it wasn't leaking, but now I can see where it is leaking and it is not good. It is leaking out the rear bolt on the bottom of the case, checked the nuts on both sides of the case and they are all tight. I need to know what course of action I should take. My warranty expired in Feb., so I'm on my own and I know this is going to be expensive. I would like to try and get through the summer before taking it to a shop, but the leek is getting worse. Anyone ever have this gasket fixed and how much dough is this going to take to fix? Thanks Guys

Doug, it may be worth a call to Bdm. You never know if you are super nice to them maybe they will help you out. All they can say is NO.

Doug call John at beezer's and see if he has had this issue at all before. Let him do your bidding at big dog customer service,he may have a better suited explanation to give them for a warranty claim.

I just got off the phone with John at Beezer's, he seems like a hell of a good guy. He is going to work with me on several issues, I'm excited to finally have someone who knows their shit look at my bike. He said he built a fire breathing engine for you and I told him that I know all about it. I'm thinking I could get into trouble at his shop, maybe spend more money than I have. John will treat you right and he won't hold your bike hostage. I'm taking mine in Thursday to a local guy for some dyno pulls and a little tune work to check my air fuel settings against my LM1 meter. Let me know if you take it to him I'll run up there and help you spend that money.

It is leaking from the rear bolt in the bottom of the case, when it is leaning on the kick stand it runs down the bolt under the primary and drips off the nut. John at Beezers said there is not a gasket in between the case and it is rare that this happens. He wants to see it for himself so after Ohio I'll get it over to him to check out. I'll give you a call tomorrow, sorry I haven't returned your calls I have been swamped.

I've got a leak under there as well that I haven't isolated yet. I thought it was from the front bolt when I first looked after verifying it wasn't from the primary but now it seems it's further back more like what you're saying but I don't have a lift to check it out. I'm interested to hear what you find.

I used brake clean to clean the entire under side of my bike and haven't started it yet so I think I'm sure on the location of my leek, I'll keep you posted.

Not much to take a picture of, just a drip of oil sitting on the rear nut that holds the case together behind the primary. I'm not talking about a ton of oil, just enough to piss me off. John at Beezer seems to think S&S may stand behind the problem if Big Dog Doesn't. I'm going to ride over next week and let him take a quick look at it. After Ohio bike week my ride might be spending a few days at Beezers.

Just wasn't sure which bolt you were referring to.

Hey Doug, not sure if this will help or not but I just finished my bike up a few weeks ago and had a similar problem. The final fix was that I had to use shorter bolts. I couldn't get it to stop leaking around the crank case and finally had to loosen the engine bolts and trans. Take shorter bolts and put the primary back on that before bolting down the engine again. The original bolts were bottoming out before I could get it tight enough.
Like I said, I'm pretty green on bike maint. but this got me fixed up. Good luck.
