Oil Foam

Any idea why I might be getting air bubbles in my engine oil.? It's almost turning into a foam. I have checked the oil levels and it doesn't appear to be an overfill situation.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Is it milky looking?

You could have water in the oil, from condensation most likely, if it's milky. Otherwise it could be air being sucked in from a loose line somewhere.

I am running 20W50 and I changed it about 600 miles ago. I will check the lines to make sure everything is tight. I am afraid I might do damage to the motor seeing the oil has such a foamy consistency.

I think Tim has your number. Milky foaming oil is contaminated with water. I'd change it out. Is it possible it's getting in when you wash your bike?:D

White foam or just frothy air bubbles?

What brand oil?

You might want to change brands.

Dino or synth?

In the old days when I ran dino oil I always had bubbles floating on the oil surface in the tank. When I switched to Mobil 1 never had any again.
