I use the K&N for now. It is the 30 micron one as suggested. Harley is like 15 microns. Just my 2 cents. I will go with K&P in the near future. You didn't tell him about the scavenger. You should buy that one right away.

S&S seems to pretty set on a 30 micro filter for the evo style 107. It has to do with the oil flow and scavange rate. The K&P eliminates this issue

I bought the S&S Oil Filter (31-4102) - says its 30 Microns, and I'm not happy with it. During rapid deceleration my oil light comes on for a quick 1-2 seconds. I dont think the oil is flowing fast enough through the filter. It supposdly has the bypass to ensure plenty of oil flows through however in my opinion it shouldnt have to use the bypass anyways as it just dumps the dirty oil back into the pan. Its a low pressure system requiring high volume, you need a proper filter for this application.

I had the K&N before when I bought the bike and did not have the same result. I bought two of the S&S Filters, probably either get the K&P and just wash/reuse or go back to the K&N. Won't use the S&S Filters on the bike again

I know some of the guys with numerous miles on their bikes swear by the K&P I believe Raywood made the switch from the standard paper filter to the K&P and found paper particles in his filter for the next 2 oil changes.

K&N 170 or K&P are the only two options in my opinion.

get the K&P re-useable filter, the sooner you get it the more you will save. It works and looks great.

You may want to check your oil tappet screen and ensure it is clean. I've been using the K&P for 7 years now so its paid for itself with 90,000 on the bike now. :)

The only issue I have had with the K&P is getting it off. I hand tighten it but the wrench that came with it is worthless, flexes too much. I finally bought a strap wrench to remove it

after changing to a K$P filter ' had "paper"in it from the other filters on the next oil
change!!! that sold me!
Ray did a thread on that. I think he said it was a couple of changes before he stopped finding paper in his filter.
