.. it’s a ‘feel good’ solution to an imaginary problem.
When oil gets hot (operating temp) ‘everything’ becomes ‘suspended’ in it and encapsulated by detergents in the oil. That is why you change your oil when it is hot and when you take an oil sample (for it to be analyzed) -Blackstonelabs.com
If all you do are short runs... your oil will not ‘burn off’ the water condensation that occurs naturally (in all internal combustion engines). That water and unburned fuel (that bypasses the rings in a cold motor) is the beginning of ‘sludge’. Oil and water don’t mix... it will look ‘poop brown’ .... then turn darker when combined with soot (that also gets by the rings on a cold motor). That is why you change your oil on a time schedule as well as mileage. Most bikes never see the mileage necessary for longer change intervals... (hot oil all the time). But, if you’ve been following the recommended oil change intervals... (per the manufacturer) then you are good to go. However, if you just bought the bike and are unsure of its maintenance then your ‘sludge removal product’ sure wouldn’t hurt. If you’re anal (like me) take a sample of that oil and send it in. Then you will know what you bought.

Excellent answer. Thank you for the explanation. Based on what you've shared, I'm fine.
