:bang: dang bike dont start replaced battery still no start took starter off and took to a shop had took apart and tested said its good wtf? if i remove the plugs it turns over freely and if i put 250 amps to her she will start and run fine think i might need compression releases ?? any help??

its a Deca with 310 CCA that will start my truck any help i want to be able to ride and starting is a big part Thank You

Did you check all your grounds ? And is your shop located in Batesville ? I pass through there every now and then for work. I like to window shop.

put ur finger on the comp releases and try and hit run then run and start, you should feel them move, while you are at work put your batt on the charger for the day as well

Does the solenoid click or does the bike turn over at all? Need a little more info. Do you have a good connection (green wire to starter solenoid)?

Do as outdoorsman said, switch on the key switch, hit the run button, place finger on one of the compression releases and hit the start button. You should feel the compression release click. If it does do the same test to the other release. You can also pull the green wire off of the starter and do this test. This will stop the starter from turning over the engine and make it easier to feel the releases engauging. Replace the green wire on the starter and manually push the release down, hit the start button and if engine turns over and starts then suspect you have a compression release problem. However be sure you are getting power to the release when you hit the start button. If no power then you may have a problem in the handle bar controller circuit board or a loose/broken wire.

Those dogs have been starting for 12 years now without compression releases. They're nice to have and will make a starter last longer, but if it takes a jump from a battery charger (assuming that's where you're getting 250 amps), then you probably need another battery. Have you tried checking the voltage on the battery while pushing the start button? It' shouldn't drop but a volt or 2. I wouldn't think it should not get below 10.5 volts while trying to start the motor. Get a Braille battery or something similar. Over 450 CCA.

I agree Brad, there have been numerous posts lately on the forum about people with pre-03 bikes and no compression releases. And some people have been telling them to get them installed. Although, it wont hurt it the long run (Save Starters, and prolong batterly life) I am afraid there has to be another issue going on. A bike without compression releases doesn't just wake up and not start one day cause it realizes all the newer dogs on the block have them. :lol:

Anyways to the original poster do as Brad said get your batt load tested take it to AutoZone they should do it for free. That Deka should turn your engine over if its in good shape without compression releases.

Is the bike even trying to turn over? You getting clicks? Or just nothing?
