odometer and trip not reading true

Does anyone know if the speed sensor has anything to do with the odometer and trip? They still work but don't read true don't tell me true miles I have gone on less side speedometer still works fine. 03 pit Thanks for any help Donnie

You need to check the calibration and make sure it is correct.

ok can do that but what would have changed calibration? has been working fine and speedo still works and it is on mph. does speed sensor effect odometer and trip?

It could if it was working intermittently.
It is easy to test
First, test that the red wire reading is 12
volts. Test the black wire for continuity.
Using the proper equipment, raise the rear
tire, and check voltage at the green signal
wire while spinning the tire. The reading
should be between 0 and 6 volts. If no
voltage registers, replace the speed sensor.

Does anyone know how my 03 speedo should sweep when turning key on. It sweeps from zero down below zero is this correctand the first numbers that show is time on machine then to trip. Dont go to actual milege untill i puss button.

Sounds like the speedo has issues
Normally it would sweep down, on older models, show steper number then odometer

Curtis i have 12 volts on red wire continuity on black but have voltage on green with key on without spinning tire but jumps all over place from like 2 to 6 volts. Any idea why green would be showing voltage didnt think it should show anything unless wheel spinning and would that be in neutral or gear to test

If you have voltage on the green wire without spinning the wheel then the speed sensor is bad.
It doesn't matter if its in gear or neutral.

Ok curtis thanks do you have speed sensor for 03 pit with baker 6 speed? Now if i can get the screw out i think previous owner locktite it in now stripped
