Octane?

Evening everybody.
I’ve been thinking about fuel and the issues that can arise from poor or incorrect fuel. I myself will not put any fuel that contains ethanol at any % in anything but our daily drivers. It’s ok there because you use it before it gets the chance to sour. But in small engines and motorcycles and boats etc this is not the case. So to get to the point, it can be challenging to find non ethanol fuel and even more challenging to find any octane rating above 89 in non ethanol. I know that running lower than the recommended 91-93 can cause serious damage. I am not willing to use ethanol to get the octane, and I may be in the wrong. What does everyone else do in this situation? Maybe start running octane booster? Or start running ethanol and a fuel stabilizer? I’m not sure which is the better choice. Fuel is already way over priced, without having to spend money on additives. My local store where I purchase 93 octane non ethanol is sitting at $6.09/gallon. Just looking for ideas. Appreciate y’all. Let’s go burn some.

I use 93. I’m not sure if I have ever even seen 93 without octane at the pumps in Florida. I guess I need to check that out.

There's an app for finding your local non-ethonol vendors.. premium is north of 5 bucks locally. Still a good deal for your bike and small motors

Unfortunately I use ethanol during riding season. High octane. Then the last two tanks I use non-ethanol before I park it for the winter. Yes non-ethanol in my snow blower and chain saws also generator.

I always carry a bottle of octane boost to be safe. If u lucky enough to have Casey's close by, they usually carry 91 clean octane. Gotta live close to racetracks to find the "good" stuff tho. Its been getting close to $5 a gal here.

I’m lucky to have a station with 93 non ethanol relatively close. Ethanol is much worse than the lower octane gas. I like the idea of carrying a octane booster just in case but never ever would I want to use an ethanol gas

"SOME" local Walmart ( Murphy Gas ) have premium 93 octane non ethanol gas. At least in my area of just north of the Tampa Bay area. I use it whenever I am near, and need to top off. But when you need gas, you can't be too fussy, and I'm to old to push.

I use a website called “pure-gas.org” which gives the information on all stations that sell non ethanol fuel in the U S and Canada. It’s been accurate for my ventures so far.

You know I hear stories about how opec is the oil mafia, the UAE pulled out and other countries are considering it. This coupled with the fact that the US doesn’t import oil. In fact we export oil. Why in the hell does OPEC still regulate our gas prices. Well I might not be the sharpest knife in the drawer but I sure ain’t a butter knife either. The whole thing just doesn’t seem right to me.

Right now the only thing driving prices high is corporate greed! And that is on everything. They have taken advantage of every little thing they can. When people, the backbone of this nation, are struggling to make ends meet, and a lot of those are failing. But yet these corporations continue to post record profits every quarter! That really pisses me off. People are doing without necessities and running out of money. And not one person in our so called government has lifted a finger to make it stop. And the rich get richer and the poor get poorer! Boycot these corporations, quit buying! Let’s make them hurt!

Hell ya'll just need to put whatever gas in them and ride...either one is not going to hurt the bikes....95% of the time I put ethanol in and haul ass...winter time I will usually put non ethanol in them with stabilizer and let them be...but like I was saying just put gas in and ride...damn hauling around octane booster in a saddle bag....honestly if your having to add octane booster your jetting is more off than you think.
