Purchased 07 k-9 and had Yaffe Phantom pipes installed at the dealership. The bike ran great but the new paint and the battery cover began to melt. Removed Yaffe pipes replaced with Trotta D2's, had bike retuned put synthedic oil in bike and ran slightly cooler, had pipes ceramic coated on the out side and now runs so hot it is melting the battery cover again. Runs so hot it burns the underside of my leg on a warm day. The dealership blames the pipes, wondering if anyone else is having problems. I'm tempted to put the stock pipes back on the bike.
NEW UPDATE
Bike has been at the dealer for 1.5 months, took it in mainly for the heat issue. I had them look at a few other issues. I made it clear that the most important issue was the heat problem. They said the bike was ready at the beginning of last week, but I had to remind them of the heat issue. After one last check, they determined I wasn't full of shit and the bike was running hot as hell! The techs at BD had them remove both cylinders and check the pistons, both were scuffed. It seems the oilers are not working properly and it caused a friction problem that equals extreme HEAT. This is the third dealership and finally someone has some answers. The other two blamed it on the pipes, possible intake leak, and improper jetting, however all were fine. The new problem is BD is making dealer send them pics and are deciding how to handle the problem, not to mention the extended down time. The dealership is not communicating with me real well and things are up in the air, I'm getting a little nervous. I didn't have real good luck with BD covering problems on my last bike, I swore I would never buy another Dog, but here I am again. Trying to be faithfull but if they don't work with me on this one, shit is going to hit the fan. This heat issue has been a problem since day one and I think BD should replace the top end of my motor and the battery covers that are burnt to hell, only 3500 miles and 1 year old. Seems like a no brainer, but I have had other problems that were a fight to cover. What do you guys think?
