Nothing from the Battery

Hi all, Need some help. My Son's 2006 BD K9 had battery problems and he replaced the battery, but now gets nothing- no lights nothing. Here is what we have done, checked all of the wires to make sure we did not miss one, checked (the best we could) the ignition switch, charged the battery to 100%.

My questions:
Is there a possibility we blew the AHC, how do you know for sure. If it goes out does that mean the entire system is off and no lights at all. If we did can someone direct me to what you need to do to fix that. I understand that it is a complete rewire.

If there is a reset button on this? we cannot find it, the manual shows a switch that is near the battery box, but we have nothing like that. I hope it would be as easy as that, but we cannot find that box to reset anything.

What else could it be?

Make sure the battery cable terminals are CLEAN and tight. The smaller wires need to have the wire crimps checked for solid good crimps. When installing the cables onto the battery terminals....make sure the large cable goes up against the battery post first.

Try to make a one-time good solid connection when reinstalling the last battery cable connection so as not to give the EHC multiple power hits.

Check the battery voltage. Dogs need a good 12.8v to start up properly.

Not sure if the 06 had a reset button circuit breaker type fuse or a self-resetable type.

I did a search and sounds like there is a circuit breaker or relay coming off the battery so that's something you should look at as well.

Your other thread on the same subject indicated the terminals were coming loose. Did you have lights or anything else prior to replacing the battery?

If so then it sounds like you may have missed a wire when reconnecting the battery. Maybe someone with an 06 K9 can tell you how many wires are connected to each side of the battery. Also I would check ignition switch.

When you removed all the wires you should have also replaced the negative side wires last.

Thanks, my son took a picture prior to putting the new battery in to make sure that he had all of the wires. The loose connections were what fried the battery. Be great to hear from someone on how many wires. My biggest fear is that the AHC is done, but have not heard that from anyone. I hope it is either the battery not strong enough (but would'nt you get something if it was not?) or the switch, not sure how to properly check that. Your question about negative last yes we did do that.

Thanks for putting up with my continued post, but want to get his bike done. He is in Flight School in Del Rio and does not have a lot of free time and no one to go to there. Unless someone knows of someone down there. On

Check for the circuit breaker also as well as what BidDogBro mentioned above. If the EHC is bad I believe you would still get lights..

If he took a picture and is positive the same amount of wires are connected then I would say circuit breaker or ign switch. Do you have a wiring diagram to chase power down?

The circuit breaker is located behind the left side cover, has a reset button on the bottom side of it that you probably cant see from looking above. Although, I don't think that is your problem as it is my understanding that this breaker is between the VR and the battery to protect from over current coming out of charging system.
- I can't remember offhand if the EHC is drawing power from the outside of this breaker though, if it is - there you go.
I'd back probe Pin A3 on your EHC plug A - Power harness (which has the 4 large diameter pin connections within it - not the backbone plug) search for schematic on here as it's been posted a couple times. - let us know if you have +12 to that wire with the key on.
Assuming you are toggling the Run button prior to hitting the start button; check for +12V on your starter solenoid wire while depressing the start button - odd's are not.
You should have a pwr light illuminated on your EHC with the key on. Are you sure that you have a good solid ground (thick blk wire from battery to starter housing behind the inner primary.

On my 2006 Mastiff, I have three wires on the positive terminal and two on the negative.

According to the service manual, the three cables on the positive terminal are the main battery cable, EHC power and power from the circuit breaker. On the negative side, the two cables are the main cable and one to a ground from the EHC.

Note that if you have a battery tender pigtail attached there will be 1 more wire on each side
