Not Got it Right

My 107 was running rough from the day I bought it. Came with 295 intermediate an 72 main. I replaced them with 32 76. Made some difference but not acceptable. Changed the 32 for a 31. Didn't help.

Changed the 31 for a 33 and that really did help. No popping, backfires or coughing out the carb. Before I couldn't ride slow in 1st gear because the bike would stutter so much. Now I can ride it slow in 1st gear. It still stutters a little but not like before.

Going through the gears is a smoother operation.

Problem is it's still not right.

It seems to be with the rear pot. The front fires clearly and regularly. Doesn't miss a beat. The rear pot isn't so regular or clear. It seems to get an extra soft beat thrown in which is making it fire slightly unevenly.

Is it the coil? timing? I really want to getting running sweetly.

New plugs in and replaced vacuum caps. Float bowl vent plug in our out makes no difference.

What can I do?

As going to a 33 jet made a good improvement I'm ready to go for a 34. Going less than 33 makes it worse.

Help and ideas appreciated.

A local custom shop thinks it's the Crane ignition at fault. I'm going to try a mechanical system.

I would stick with electronics, mechanical requires too much adjustment and they are not that precise. Thunderheart....IMHO

Got to the bottom of my bikes problem.

It's got a Crane ignition in with 3 trim pots. I reset them to factory settings and the bike ran good straight off. You need a magnifying glass to do it. Dot indicators are so small.

I plan to replace the ignition because of the way it was installed, wiring is a mess. Got a New electronic one off ebay at a good price
