non-ethanol gas versus 10% ethanol gas

I noticed the difference when I was forced to get some 10% ethanol gas the other morning when non ethanol was not available. I have been running the non-ethanol because there is a station close to home. I rode the scooter to work the other day and realized I needed gas so I stopped the only place to fill up, and even got high test. I almost immediately noticed the rattling noise in the rocker boxes was louder, more noticable at least, with the ethanol gas. I have since almost burned that tank up but when I finish it out I am going to try to stay with the non ethanol gas in the scooter from now on. It still rattles a little but not near as noticeable as with the 10% ethanol crap.
I told one of the guys I work with I rode my scooter today to work. I told him it gets great mileage and feels great early in the mornings riding in. He asked me if it was a Vespa,,, and do you get that thing on the interstate? I told him I just have to get on the interstate a couple of miles then get off again. The rest of the ride in is on the back roads. A little bit later I told him I just called it the "Scooter" :choppersmiley: it helps keep me humble!

My wifes truck {f150 with a 4.6) we ran regular 10% ethanol and it pinged like crazy when you put a load on it or stepped into it. We started using the high test version of the 10% ethanol and it tottally stopped pinging all together.

This is the VERY reason I keep Rocket fuel octaine booster and Star Bright Enzime treatment in my T-Bag on my bike. I usually run 100 octaine AV gas, but when I get caught on the road I put 1 pillow of Rocket fuel and 8 OZ of Star Bright in my tank then fuel up with super unleaded with ethanol.
