Ok guys,
Give me the quick and dirty on these trannys. Are they a problem / have a ton of issues?
Thanks!

Non-Baker? You referring to the other brands like HD, Revtech or Jims?

First years of HD had many issues same with Revtech. Lately Baker has experienced problems also from what we are seeing here.

:2thumbs:

I'm not sure about the 02, but on my 04 its a baker trans inside a Jim's case. Baker did not make the cases back then.

Same here as Alhall -- Baker Gears in a Jim's Box in 2004 Bulldog.

My question is on the tranny's in the 05/06 models that are not branded Baker. What are they, who made them and do they have issues?
Thanks

Don't know of anything else on the 05 and newer models but the Baker. 05 brought the DD6 and to my knowledge BD is the only company using the DD6 vice the OD6.

G-Dog,
Ray's out breaking in his rebuild, so I'll try to answer for you.

Yes,
Baker DDS-6 "RSD" (Right Side Drive) 1:1 Ratio in 6th gear

Baker ODS-6 "RSD" "Overdriven" in 6th gear.

dead
Thank you sir!!!!
Are you aware of any other trannys for 05/06 BDM bikes from any other mfg or are they all Bakers?
Thanks

The reason I ask is that I saw some documents on the web that state 2004 as Baker, 05/06 as N/A and then 07 and above be Baker again. So I figure something is different.......wtf????
Thanks

GDOG,
I see what you are saying. I don't know if I'd believe that information. Check with Raywood, he has an '04 or '05, but he knows pretty much everything when it comes to the specs. on the Chopper models. :2thumbs:

Eric,
That may be true, but I'd find it hard to believe that Baker would prioritize their cases to only work with BDM frames. But anymore, I guess anything is possible!

dead
Copy all, just find it strange that they delineate between the Baker and the N/A:confused:

Thanks

Sent Ray a pm to chime in.

GDOG, the 05 and newer are Baker cases but made to BDM specs. You can't buy anything off of the Baker website for there DSSC (what primary the 05 and new have) cause BDM models have different bolt patterns. Proprietary I belive they call it!!!

But it's Baker, stamped on the back if I remember right. I will run down and check mine.

To my knowledge  it's all Baker. Here is a pick from my 05.

04 and earlier were OD6's and 05 and newer are DD6's.

Says BDM - Baker 6 spd
