Update: got thr new starter form bigdogparts, my slam button won’t fit and they say no one makes a slam button for this stater. Now what? any suggestions? can i wire in a start switch/button from battery directly to the solenoid? or am i going to have to cut out the wire plus and go with one of the new wire kits? there has to be way around this dead green solenoid wire?

I would get the wire plus out of the bike...its fixing to leave you stranded.

What starter is on your bike? I would run a 2.0 and yes they make a slam button for it...look for a sypke starter button...look at the existing cover and match to it

Yes, you can put a momentary on push button switch between the Battery + side and the Starter solenoid. The only thing you need to remember is to select the Run button first which turns on the ignition. Then you will need to hit the Original start button for 1or2 seconds ( which will trigger your compression releases) and at the same time hit the newly installed button in order to crank the engine until it starts. It may seem difficult but it's really not. I would get a good quality push button .
